VISA INFORMATION
The International Congress on Turkish Language, Culture, and Art (TULCAS 2026) will be held in Budapest, Hungary, on October 28–30, 2026.
International participants may require a visa to enter Hungary depending on their nationality, passport type, country of residence and existing residence or visa status. Participants are strongly advised to verify their individual entry requirements well in advance of travel.
Hungary is a member of the Schengen Area. Whether you need a visa depends primarily on your nationality and the travel document you hold.
Citizens of countries that benefit from visa-free access to the Schengen Area may generally enter Hungary for short stays without obtaining a Schengen visa, subject to the applicable entry conditions and the 90/180-day rule.
Participants whose nationality requires a visa for short stays in the Schengen Area should obtain the appropriate visa before travelling to Hungary.
Important: Visa requirements may differ according to nationality, passport category and residence status. Participants should always verify current requirements with the Hungarian diplomatic mission responsible for their country of residence or through the official Schengen visa information channels.
For participants who require a visa to attend TULCAS 2026, participation in a short international congress will normally fall under the category of a C Type Short-Stay Schengen Visa, subject to the individual circumstances of the applicant.
Schengen visa applications may generally be submitted up to six months before the intended journey. Applicants are advised not to leave their visa application until shortly before departure.
Processing may take longer in individual cases, particularly when further examination or additional documentation is required. TULCAS 2026 participants are therefore strongly advised to begin the visa process as early as possible.

Applicants for a short-stay Schengen visa are generally required to provide valid travel medical insurance covering the entire Schengen Area and the relevant period of travel.
Participants who require documentation confirming their attendance at TULCAS 2026 may use the official congress invitation documentation in support of their visa application, subject to the procedures and eligibility conditions determined by the congress organisation.

Please Note: An invitation letter does not constitute a visa and does not guarantee that a visa will be issued. The final decision is made exclusively by the competent Hungarian diplomatic and consular authorities.
Participants residing in Türkiye who require a short-stay visa for Hungary should follow the procedures published by the Embassy of Hungary in Ankara, the Consulate General of Hungary in Istanbul and Hungary's authorised visa application service provider in Türkiye.
For applications made in Türkiye, Hungary currently uses AS Visa Solutions as its authorised external visa application service provider for C Type short-stay visa applications.
Non-Turkish citizens residing in Türkiye should also verify the specific residence permit and application requirements that apply to them before making an appointment.
